Mr. Jared’s Class Letter

Hello Families,

Welcome to my 4th and 5th grade class. I’m looking forward to my 7th year with this class. This will be my second year teaching a combo 4th 5th class and my second year at Hubert Humphrey. The first day of school is tomorrow Thursday 8/3/23, and the bell rings at 8:05. I will be outside my portable p12 holding my name for the class.

APS Breakfast and Lunches are free this year. If your child brings lunch from home and needs milk, it is $0.40. The new schedule for school is “Bell to Bell” meaning that my schedule is the same as the students. I will be in my class before the actual bell and students just need to line up in front of portable p12 by 8:05.

The class schedule will be put onto my website which you can find through https://huberthumphrey.aps.edu/contact-us by finding my name and clicking on the class website link. You can also find my newsletters at this location as well as some other general information. The website link may take a week to be up.

Homework in class is light. If students do not finish their work in the classroom it becomes homework and should be turned in the following day. We will have monthly projects such as book reports or research reports that students share. Lastly, students should be reading for 20 minutes 4 times a week and recording a short summary of what they read into their agendas. I will be checking agendas for completed work on Mondays. The first two to three weeks of school there will be no homework.

I’m fine with students eating in the classroom, it just needs to be something healthy. I don’t allow chips, candies, cakes, etc. The closest I allow to these are goldfish, cheez-its and veggie straws. Let me know if you have any questions on snacks.

For birthdays please send in anything you want. We will either celebrate before lunch or at the end of the day. We do have peanut, tree nut, dairy and gluten allergies. If it is possible to bring in foods considering this it would be greatly appreciated but I will have some alternatives ready in the classroom.

Lastly, we want to make sure we have parent email addresses entered correctly, so please make sure to respond to this email indicating that you received it. Also, if there are additional email addresses that you would like to be included on our class email list, please send that information as well.

We are so excited to see all those amazing fourth and fifth grade faces tomorrow! Enjoy your last few days of summer!

Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions.
